It's a Major Award!

My lovely and talented friend Shawn was nice enough to think of me and my blog last week and award me the THINKING BLOGGER AWARD! What a great thing it is, to be considered and remembered and honored so - very humbling and rewarding! (I realized all this only after I thought and thought and thought, of course . . . )

Thanks Shawn, you do me a great and powerful honor. Please go take a gander at Shawn's blog here: http://www.doodlegirl.com/blogger.html she's a wonderful, warm, thoughtful and playful person with whom I share a birthday and who I am ever so lucky to call a friend.

I've kind of been on a blog hiatus for a few weeks, trying to focus on other time and brain-consuming projects, (not brain-consuming like a surprise zombie attack, but brain-consuming as in "I wish I could focus on a few more things at the same time . . . Oooh look, a balloon!") so I guess I need to climb back on my blog saddle and blog something worthy of this nice award.

When someone wins this it behooves them to pay it forward to 5 other bloggers, so without further ado, here's some cool sites to peruse, some of good friends, some of people I don't even know:

http://www.jeffpidgeon.com/ - Jeff Pidgeon is one of the great story artists in the animation business, and just a hella good guy. (do people still say "hella"?) He's responsible for so many of the truly great gag sequences in the Pixar movies that I doubt if even he remembers them all. And he has a toy collection that would make your mouth and eyes water copiously.

http://www.ericjoyner.com/blog/ - Eric Joyner, painter of robots. And donuts. Say it out loud: "Robots. And Donuts!" Yes, in the same paintings! I've been fortunate enough to have known Eric for many years, and I'm crazy about his work. Plus he's an engaging and funny guy who works like a dawg.

http://www.simplestroke.com/wp/ - Dice Tsutsumi, currently of Pixar Studios, formerly of Blue Sky Studios, is a digital and traditional painter of exceptional merit. If you have seen saw the movie Robots and/or the book The Art of Robots you were treated to some of the most beautiful work currently done for animated film. You will be seeing more of his work in the upcoming Horton Hears A Who from Blue Sky. Dice is a pleasant, self-effacing guy who does much more wonderful art work than just digital paintings for film. Check out his blog and be humbled.

http://steamcrow.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1 - I've only met Daniel M. Davis once, at a Comic Con, but I am constantly amazed by the scope of his creativity and artistic ability. And you can buy his quirky and brilliant concepts on shirts and stuff! Please have your credit cards ready . . .

http://woodyart.blogspot.com/ - Ryan Wood's blog of beautiful snarky and funny paintings. I don't know Ryan personally, but I am constantly inspired and entertained by his conceptually super cool and incredibly skillful work.

Thanks again Shawn!

Hi Jim.

Thank you so much for the award.

Even though I'm still bleary from SDCC, I'm smiling right now.
