Ill. Fri.: GREEN

As long as I've been semi-aware, "green" has always been slang for money. Now I'm admittedly not always the brighest star in the firmament, so it took me awhile to realize that our currency, our money, our "green", is not really green any more. In an effort to foil nefarious counterfitters, (as well, I suspect, as to make sure those pesky Euros don't outshine us in the money design department) our Treasury Dept. has been tarting up our foldin' money for the past few years. As a public service, and just to help familiarize you with the particulars of the new designs, here's a diagram, with helpful callouts, of the new $10 bill. Note that the government is doing their best to keep costs down by selling ad space on the bills, (not unlike the practice of professional sports team owners selling naming rights to their stadiums) such as the trademark web border design commemorating the upcoming release of Spider Man 3. "Green" no more.

First...the thumbnail size had me questioning if you had been the second person today to have defaced our biggest cash crop...so kudos for the drawing effort...and second...that's pretty funny...until it actually happens...(Hi Mom?!?! Good night...how do I get on that design team)...THird...nice blog...Batman using the ATM...nice sense of humor...

Very cool piece. That starbucks logo fits right in there. Most modern countries color code their money. I wish the money peeps would do that here. thanx to inflation, it looks like they also need to lose the penny. I read somewhere that they cost much more than a penny to make.

I agree with brian about the thumb, you should post another thumb that shows a section of detail. Small - it comes across as a photo shopped bill because your drawing is so spot on.

Love the caricature! Sorry about the bullet wound thought-- that smarts. Funny idea, great execution.

Sadly enough, this concept probably isn't too far off from reality!
Starbucks for everyone!

When I clicked on the thumbnail I figured it to just be another picture of a man, but to find that it was a dollar bill it made me laugh. I love how you connected humor into your piece. I also like how you developed each sketch that you drew, very impressive. Keep up the wonderful creativity!

I have to say... I love that bill. Very funny and very beautifully executed. Being a SW geek, the Star Wars homage made me snicker out loud.

well done and funny - I wouldn't be all that surprised if it came true - just think of the ad/sponsorship revenue!
